Job Description and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Lasersec is looking for a passive fiber component assembly expert for our expanding fiber assembly operation in Jorvas, Finland. You will play a key role in establishing and running a newly formed passive fiber component assembly manufacturing line in a high volume, high quality environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop passive fiber component assembly processes and qualify for production.

2. Be the process owner for all passive fiber assembly processes and all associated metrology.

3. Own all manufacturing and test equipment, devise and enforce preventative maintenance schedules and safety standards.

4. Identify critical process parameters, initiate and sustain statistical process control.

5. Write and maintain process documentation.

6. Train and certify production technicians.

7. Track and improve yields.

8. Define equipment requirements and specifications.

Education and Work Experience

Qualifications:

1. 10 years of hands-on experience in the field of passive fiber component assembly processes.

2. In-depth familiarity with associated manufacturing equipment and processes such as fiber stripping, epoxy application/curing and fiber polishing.

3. Knowledge of and hands-on experience with associated metrology such as visual inspection, interferometric surface characterization as well as failure analysis and environmental testing methods and concepts.

4. Understanding of the physics of fiber optics, fiber manufacturing methods and concepts.

5. Familiarity with optical surface quality criteria and inspection methods.

6. Fluent in statistical data analysis and statistical process control.

5. M.S. in Materials Science, Optics, Physics or related field.
