Job Description and Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities:

 

The primary activity of this position is to manage and coordinate the activities and roles within purchasing, planning and receiving / shipping functions within the Defense and Security business unit.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Fulfillment of the planned material needs to support Mfg and Product development requirements.

     a. Coordination of the Material Planning function

     b. Management of the procurement execution plan

     c. Primary Liaison for the business unit in the following areas:

          i. Contract Negotiations with Suppliers / Vendors

          ii. Corporate Governance

          iii. Administrative compliance

          iv. Supplier development / Quality Assurance

2. Development and Execution of strategic and budgetary material sourcing strategies

     a. Identification and implementation of TOTAL  material cost improvement

3. Primary contact for Engineering development activity.

     a. Managing impact of Engineering Change requirements

     b. Ensuring that Supply Chain is appropriately engaged in the value stream of New Product releases.

4. Information systems Development

     a. Integration and execution of business systems

     b. Alignment with the Business Process Management team

5. Asset Management

     a. Tracking BU assets like capital equipment and tooling within supplier locations.

 

Key Metrics for Position:

 

1. Supplier Scorecard Ratings

2. Inventory and Inventory Turns

3. Gross Margin Improvement

4. Material Cost Reductions

 

Job Requirements:

1. Strong analytical skills (Excel)

2. Ability to travel 25% of their time

3. Strong International procurement experience

4. Considerable ERP planning Experience (Oracle is a plus)

5. Good Negotiation Experience

6. Experience within a  low volume, highly cyclical environment

 

Education and Work Experience

 

 Min. requirements include a BS degree in an engineering or financial management field. At least 10 years experience in a Sr. level Management position.
