Job Description and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

1) Participate in new product development teams as the primary mechanical design resource.

2) Create or update mechanical solid models and drawings in Solidworks for new and existing LSM products.

3) Follow LSM design standards for the tolerancing, CAD drawing formats, and document control of CAD drawings. Create part drawings, assembly drawings and BOMs

4) Create part numbers and BOMs in Agile.

5) Process ECOs for new and existing products in Agile

6) Work with Coherent Component Engineering to document and release components

7) Act as an engineering liaison to machine shops and other key mechanical parts vendors

8) Other mechanical design or document control activities may be added in the future as business conditions evolve.

Personal Characteristics

1) Good “hands on” computer aided mechanical design experience (Agile and Solidworks)

2) Strong attention to detail

3) Equal interest in drafting, mechanical design, and document control activities.

Education and Work Experience

Required Background and Education:

1) B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and >2 years work experience or formal CAD and engineering document control training (B.S. not required) with > 10 years work experience in mechanical design

2) Work experience in the following areas:

a) Experience creating solid models, assemblies, and detailed shop and assembly drawings in Solidworks

b) Agile or similar ECO and document control system

c) Mechanical design experience with machined, molded, and sheet metal parts

d) PDMworks for managing solid model revision control

e) Basic familiarity with electronic components and electronics assemblies (ICs, connectors, PCBs, etc)

f) Mechanical design of optical assemblies
